Wine merchant Spanish Wines Direct is setting up a Cardiff branch

The business behind popular Cardiff bars and restaurants Vermouth and Curado, Spanish Wines Direct, is opening a new wine shop in Cardiff. The shop will sell luxury Spanish wines, imported directly from Spain, and Spanish foods. Opening on Penarth Road, the shop which does not yet have a name, is aiming to open in late June to early July. Once open, it will be open every day, from around 9am to late evening.

Paul Grimwood and his wife Shumana Palit run Spanish Wines Direct, which is also a monthly wine subscription service. Paul explained why they have decided to open a shop in Cardiff. The couple already has a shop in Aberystwyth, which opened during the coronavirus pandemic.

Paul said: "Through the pandemic we've got up our wine side of the business hugely, so it just makes sense, it is a big part of our business."
