Alexander Zverev revealed his glucose monitor affected his preparation ahead of his Wimbledon semifinal victory over Taylor Fritz, saying the device displayed an inaccurate blood sugar reading that prompted him to inject more insulin than he actually needed.

The German star, who advanced to his first Wimbledon final before ultimately finishing runner-up, explained after the tournament that the monitor showed his blood glucose was significantly higher than it really was. As such, Zverev administered insulin before his warm-up, only to later discover that his blood sugar had dropped too low. "I injected myself with way too much insulin," he said, adding that the incident left him feeling physically drained and negatively affected his performance during the warm-up session before the match.
