Right, that’s it for a sodden but memorable second day. Mixed fortunes for the Brits, with Andy Murray sweeping elegantly into the second round, Cameron Norrie surviving a wobble to beat Tomas Machac but Dan Evans beaten in four sets in an evening up-and-downer on Centre. Elsewhere, the top women - 2022 Women’s winner Elena Rybakina, her defeated fellow-finalist Ons Jabeur and Aryna Sabalenka - all sailed through to fight another day. And Djokovic’s closest rival Carlos Alcaraz won as easily as expected.
