Julian Wilson says he felt like the star of his kids' favourite movie Moana with the returning veteran shocking World Surf League rankings leader Italo Ferreira en route to the Gold Coast Pro quarter-finals.

The 36-year-old, who hasn't competed on the Championship Tour for almost four years, wound back the clock with a stunning showing in the Burleigh Heads event on Friday.
