Major League Baseball’s umpiring problem has been on full display for much of the 2023 season, with bad calls being made in so many games by so many different guys in blue.
That continued Tuesday night in Pittsburgh when Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras struck out swinging after taking two very questionable strikes earlier in the at-bat.
Contreras wasn’t happy at all with home plate umpire Brennan Miller and drew a line in the dirt following his strikeout. That led to an instant (and very casual) ejection, which led to Contreras going back to home plate to draw a circle in the dirt. He then spiked his bat and threw his helmet.

Absolutely ridiculous and so don’t mean WC’s reaction. @MLB @MLBUA y’all have a major issue rn. You need to train these umpires, way too many bad calls. I understand if the pitches are close but they aren’t. Time for a refresh. https://t.co/2N7f2GyHev
