Top Irish trainer Willie Mullins won’t have a runner in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day at Kempton – after the Closutton handler pulled his remaining entries at the latest declaration stage.
Willie Mullins Pulls Remaining 2024 King George VI Chase Runners
The current British Champion trainer Willie Mullins last won the King George VI Chase in 2021 with Tornado Flyer and before that his only other winner in the big Boxing Day horse racing feature came back in 2001 with Florida Pearl.
However, fans of Willie Mullins will have to wait a bit longer to see his third King George VI Chase winner as the has pulled ALL his remaining eight entries from the race at the latest declaration stage.
The horses he still had in before pulling them were Blue Lord, Capodanno, Ferny Hollow, Grangeclare West, Il Etait Temps, Minella Cocooner, plus his Cheltenham Festival winners from last season Gaelic Warrior and Galopin Des Champs.
Of that army, ante-post horse racing punters will also be screaming as Gaelic Warrior had been one of the favourites with the best horse racing betting sites in the UK.

2023 King George VI Chase Winner Hewick Remains On Target For Repeat Kempton Win
The King George VI Chase has a habit of throwing up repeat winners – in recent years the likes of Kauto Star, Silviniaco Conti and Clan des Obeaux have all won the race more than once, and Hewick will be the next to try and join this list.
Hewick came with a power-packed late run in the Boxing Day feature 12 months ago – to deny the 2022 winner Bravemansgame of being a repeat winner (watch below) – and he’s another Irish raider that is expected to be back to defend his crown.
