William Saliba still absent from Arsenal training as Eddie Nketiah returns

William Saliba remains a doubt for Arsenal’s clash against West Ham on Sunday, but Eddie Nketiah could make his comeback.

Saliba has been out injured since March 16 with a back issue and he was once again absent from training on Tuesday morning.

Arsenal are being cautious with the centre-back and will not rush him back, especially as they face title rivals Manchester City on April 26.

The Gunners are currently six points clear of City after drawing 2-2 with Liverpool on Sunday and they have just eight games to go.

City have a game in hand on Arsenal and, if both sides win all their remaining matches, the title will be decided on goal difference.

Arsenal have been boosted for the title run-in by Nketiah returning to training. The striker has been out injured since March 1 with an ankle injury.

The striker played a pivotal role for Mikel Arteta’s side immediately after the World Cup when Gabriel Jesus was out after undergoing knee surgery.

Nketiah scored six goals in as many games during a hot run of form that led to him being linked with a first call-up to the senior England squad.

The 23-year-old will hope he can be involved for Arsenal’s trip to West Ham on Sunday, but if not then he should definitely return for the match with Southampton a week on Friday.

Nketiah faces more competition for minutes now that Leandro Trossard has excelled as a striker too.
