William Saliba has followed in the footsteps of Thomas Partey with his recent comments which will certainly please Mikel Arteta ahead of next season.
The Frenchman has been critical of his recent performances and has vowed to improve on the mistakes he has made while on loan at Marseille.
Partey had previously been vocal about his performances earlier in the season and has since gone on massively improve on his displays, which has made him a crucial asset to the team.
With Saliba following the same path as Partey in terms of his mentality, this will give Arteta great confidence for the youngster ahead of the next campaign.
Speaking about his recent displays, Saliba said: ”Since February I’ve been very average.
There’s no need to hide, I know that I need to work.” He added.
“I’m a young player, but it’s no excuse. I’m going to give everything to get back to my good level.”
The Frenchman had an excellent start to life at Marseille and has won the plaudit of many fans, however, his form has started to dip recently.
Partey suffered from the same performances earlier in the season, and was also vocally critical about his displays and Speaking after the defeat to Manchester United , he said: “The team is improving, each and everyone is doing our best.”
“For me, I have to keep on doing my best, keep trying, keep improving, try to come back to my best, because the team needs me, the team needs us.”
Since these quotes, the Ghanaian has gone to become one of Arsenal's most important players, as his absence was clear in January when he went to play at the African Cup of Nations, as the Gunners failed to win a single game during the month he was absent.
However, since he has returned to the side, Arsenal haven’t lost a match and the Gunners look the favourites to qualify for a Champions League spot ahead of next season.
If Saliba can follow the same pattern as Partey when he does return to the side it will show a strong side to his mentality which will be required to start in the defence for Arteta next season.
The youngster has been solid for Marseille at the back for the majority this campaign, and his recent form is only a slight blip in his promising career.
