The Prince and Princess of Wales are likely to postpone their move to Windsor Castle after what has been a tumultuous 72 hours for the Royal Family.
The decision has been made in a bid to prevent their three children from facing more upheaval.
Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and four-year-old Prince Louis, four, have moved house, started their new school and lost their great grandmother The Queen in the space of a week.
After the difficulty of the past few days, the couple has told courtiers they hope to give their children time to settle in school before having to deal with moving house again
A source told The Telegraph : "They won’t be starting from scratch when it comes to decisions on what happens to all of the royal properties because there have been lots of conversations about that over the years."
They continued: "But things can change when family dynamics are taken into account, and they will want as little disruption to their children’s lives as possible right now."
After the Queen died peacefully on Thursday aged 96 at her Balmoral home in Scotland, it has been speculated that William and Kate could move to Windsor Castle with their children.
However, the family are reportedly 'very happy' after moving into Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate in Berkshire last week, from their Kensington Palace home.
Meanwhile any future decisions will be dictated by what is 'right for the children'.
The recent move, as well as the decision to enrol the young royals at the £7,000 a term Lambrook School, has happened so that they can have "more freedom".
The day before Her Majesty's death, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Louis had taken part in a 'taster day' at their new school.
The following day, Prince William raced up north in a bid to be by his grandmother's side, while Kate Middleton stayed at home so she could pick her children up from school.
The following day, King Charles III made his first televised speech to the nation as the new monarch.
He paid a heartfelt tribute to his "darling mama", while appointing William and Kate as the new Prince and Princess of Wales.
The mum-of-three said that she 'appreciates the history' associated with the role which was last held by the late Princess Diana - but also that she wants to create her 'own path'.
