‘Will not lobby for a Cabinet berth’, says Preetham Gowda

Hassan MLA Preetham J. Gowda has said he will not lobby for a ministerial berth, but he would accept if the party offers him one.

Speaking to presspersons in Hassan on Monday, he said he would not put pressure on anybody for a berth in the Cabinet. “I have not met anybody with such a demand so far and will not approach anyone for the same. However, will work efficiently if the party seniors consider me.”

He maintained that he was in politics for a long innings, not for a 100 metre race. “I have a long career in politics and age on my side. The people of Hassan have given me a chance to work for them. I will abide whatever the decision party leaders take”, he said.

‘Will remain in BJP’’

In another programme in Hassan on Sunday, the MLA said that he would remain in the BJP. “Some people are spreading rumours that I am planning to join the Congress. Nobody should believe them. I will remain in the BJP forever.”

Further, he said the people who were spreading rumours were citing the development works he got sanctioned for Muslim-dominated areas to support their argument. “As a representative of the city I am giving attention to all areas. If the minority people are happy with my work, I request them to support me in the next election”, he said.
