Will Mellor is refusing to give up on a Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps reunion despite the latest script being rejected by BBC.
The actor, 45, admits there is still a huge amount of potential to bring back the hit sitcom and praised the script Susan Nixon has already completed called Two Pints Last Orders.
Speaking of the script, Will - who played Gaz on the show - told the Mirror: "It was Gaz still in the pub. He's got three garages now and he's 45, but he's still trying to talk to women the way he used to."
While Will says that he's not entirely sure how a new audience would take to the show, he is adamant there's still a whole generation of people who would still love it.
And he believes that bringing the comedy back could allow the storyline to focus on how the world has changed, even if the characters are still set in their old ways.
"You could open it up into a world where Gaz is still set in his old way," he continued. "And he keeps getting reminded he can't say that anymore; can't do that anymore; it's not allowed.
"And you can play on that [Gaz's confusion]. You can use that because there is a lot of confusion what you can and can't say anymore and what's right and what's wrong. And you know, you can have fun with it."
Will believes that fans of the show, which ran for nine series between 2001 and 2011, will still be invested in storylines such as where Jonny - played by Ralf Little - has been hiding after pretending to be killed, and how baby Corinthian has grown up.
He added: "I think it really would work because there's an audience for it. The BBC don't want to do it. They don't want to revisit it.
"So we probably would end up taking it to a stream somewhere where you could download it and watch it. But you just have to make it. And it's getting the money to make it and doing that.
"But I'd love to do it because you know, I think I think there is a market for it. And I think it wouldn't be the same because it can't be the same because it's 20 years ago.
"To see where we are 20 years later could be funny."
Will is currently preparing to tour with former co-star Ralf, 42, as the pair take their popular podcast Two Pints With Will and Ralf across the UK.
The former Corrie star admits that it's daunting selling out theatres and taking the tour on the road.
But he admits exciting times lie ahead and he anticipates a lot of crowd interaction to help make for a great night at each of the 14 shows.
He tells fans they can expect "unplanned chat" as they will talk openly about current affairs, while also saying they have a few surprises lined up.
"Maybe we'll do some Will versus Ralf games on stage," he suggests in reference to the latest addition to their podcast's patreon section.
"It won't be us just sat down talking for an hour and a half because I wouldn't pay to see that and I wouldn't expect anyone else to pay to see that because you can see that on the pod.
"We want to give them something extra and feel like they've been a part of something special."
