Will Ferrell is coming to Wrexham to watch Ryan Reynolds' side at the Racecourse

Hollywood actor Will Ferrell is planning a visit to north Wales.

The Anchorman star wants to go to the Racecourse in February to watch Wrexham AFC as part of what he is calling a "triple crown" tour of football grounds.

Ferrell, a close friend of Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds, revealed his plan on a recent episode of Liverpudlian podcaster Roger Bennett's Men in Blazers show.

“We are planning a trip in February to hit the triple crown — Fulham, QPR and and Wrexham," said Ferrell.

The host burst out laughing and said “the famed mighty Wrexham”, to which Ferrell replied: “The treble. The original treble.”

QPR and Fulham ply their trade in the Championship — English football's second tier — while Wrexham play in the National League fifth tier.

When Reynolds and Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney visited Wrexham in October, the Deadpool star said he would love to bring Ferrell to the Racecourse.

And Ferrell has challenged Wrexham to a match with Los Angeles FC, of which the Step Brothers funnyman is a minority owner.

While commentating on an LA FC game last year, Ferrell was asked: “You did a movie with Ryan Reynolds coming out on Christmas, he’s now involved with Wrexham. [Jason] Sudeikis is involved with Ted Lasso. You feel like you started something here?”

Ferrell replied: “I feel that I am a catalyst in that regard, and I think Ted’s team, Ryan’s team, and LA FC should try and play each other at some point. Like a three-team tournament.”

Wrexham have two home fixtures scheduled for next month. The first is against Boreham Wood on Saturday, February 12, and the second against Aldershot Town on Saturday, February 26.
