Will Bernhard Raimann play this week? Injury updates for Colts OT

Following the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 8 matchup with the Houston Texans, left tackle Bernhard Raimann reported concussion symptoms and entered protocols.

All last week heading into the team’s Sunday night matchup with Minnesota, Raimann did not practice and then was ruled out of that game on Friday. In for Raimann was rookie Matt Goncalves.

This week, however, Raimann practiced all three days as a full participant, but as of Wednesday, he was still technically in concussion protocols.

Bernhard Raimann injury update

Following the Colts’ final practice of the week on Friday, head coach Shane Steichen told the local media that Raimann had cleared concussion protocols, and he will play on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

What it means for Colts vs. Bills

With Raimann back in the mix, the Colts will be at what is their current full capacity along the offensive line. This does include rookies Tanor Bortolini and Dalton Tucker starting at center and right guard, while Ryan Kelly and Will Fries are on injured reserve.

Overall, Raimann has had a good season for the Colts, building off of a strong sophomore season in 2023. Out of 79 eligible tackles, he ranks 23rd in pass-blocking efficiency and 26th in run-blocking grade.

As the Colts’ offense looks to get back on track following an abysmal performance against the Vikings, success begins with getting Jonathan Taylor going. For one, the Bills rank 26th in yards per rush allowed, and being able to move the ball on the ground will help open up opportunities in the passing game as well.

This is a Bills’ defense that, overall, ranks eighth in points per game given up, but in addition to giving up yards on the ground, they also rank 24th in pressure rate on the quarterback.
