Spirits are high in Cincinnati these days.
On Tuesday, the Reds called up Elly De La Cruz, perhaps the most electrifying prospect in baseball. He proceeded to wow fans in his first game as a big leaguer with an impressive double from the cleanup spot as Cincinnati won in walk-off fashion. Then, in his encore on Wednesday night, De La Cruz crushed the first homer of his career.
But the best highlight from Wednesday night’s game has to belong to another Reds youngster. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, Will Benson came to the plate and crushed a long walk-off homer. It was a dramatic play that gave the Reds their third straight victory, and Benson punctuated the moment with an electric celebration.
“This is my s---!” Benson yelled toward the home dugout as he spiked his bat in the dirt.

Here’s another angle, because one isn’t enough.
Will Benson's first big league home run was a walk-off and the display of joy was elite! ⚡️⚡️⚡️ pic.twitter.com/IvSitGGdUX

Benson had a good reason to be so amped about his clutch homer. In 47 previous MLB games, he had never hit a homer. It doesn’t get much better than hitting your first career home run in front of an electric crowd to give your team a come-from-behind victory.
