Will a sixth heatwave hit the UK this summer? Here’s the forecast

Met Office forecasts indicate that the UK could see a sixth heatwave before summer is over.
The country is currently on track for its hottest summer on record, with five heatwaves so far.
On Thursday, a temperature of 38.1C was recorded at Kew Gardens in London – the highest of 2026.
The current heatwave is due to end by the weekend, with temperatures dropping to 27C.
However, the Met Office said that high pressure could return towards the end of August, potentially triggering another heatwave.
