Wilfried Zaha 'deletes post' after Reece James rubs salt in wounds on social media

Wilfried Zaha appeared to hit back at Reece James on social media after the Chelsea defender celebrated the Blues' dramatic 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Former Eagles loanee Conor Gallagher struck a stunning last-gasp winner for the visitors, who had fallen behind at Selhurst Park after Odsonne Edouard found the net in the 7th minute. But Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang restored parity with his first goal for the club before the break to set the stage for Gallagher's late blockbuster.

Gallagher's late intervention was enough to hand new Blues boss Graham Potter his first win since arriving at Stamford Bridge - and it was certainly a result that some of his players revelled in.

James was one Chelsea player who was vocal on social media after the derby win. He posted a picture of him getting the better of Zaha during the game alongside an emoji of a padlock - suggesting that the Blues right-back had the Eagles winger 'on lock' during the match.

But Zaha was less than impressed and appeared to fire back at the England star with a message of his own. The 29-year-old shared a post to his Instagram stories with the message 'Clouts a hell of a drug lol But yall be safe.' However, the light-hearted jibe urging James to stay humble appeared to be removed later on by the Palace star.

The Eagles had looked set to bag a point from the all-London clash before Gallagher's late intervention. The 22-year-old, who plundered eight Premier League goals for Crystal Palace and became an instant fan favourite last year, had not scored for Chelsea prior to his last-gasp strike.

And while he was very respectful to Palace in his post-match assessment, the Blues academy graduate simply couldn't hide his delight.

Gallagher said: "It's crazy to be honest. Of course I was dying to get on the pitch, I felt I could help the team win the game and thankfully got the chance to get a shot off and it went in and it had to come against Crystal Palace.

Zaha deleted a message on his Instagram stories shortly after posting (Instagram/@wilfriedzaha)

"I loved my time here, and the fans were just brilliant, they were clapping me after the game after I'd just scored - it's just unreal, I'm so thankful for how they treated me when I was here. Now I'm buzzing to get the three points, buzzing to get my first goal for Chelsea and hopefully it’s time to kick on from here.

"I got a bit jammy to be honest because it went through JP's [Mateta's] legs. I didn't mean to, I didn’t know he was there. I'm just buzzing it went in."
