Leeds United completed the signing FC Zurich forward Wilfried Gnonto late on deadline day.
The Italy international arrives at Elland Road on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee Here is everything you need to know on the striker:
What has he done so far?
Despite being only 18 years old, Gnonto already has an abundance of first-team experience. After joining current club FC Zurich from Inter Milan, he has already gone on to make 69 appearances.
During that timeframe, he has netted 12 goals and provided nine assists, with the majority of those coming last season in his breakthrough campaign. Perhaps the most impressive part of his young career so far, though, is his exploits on the international stage.
Gnonto has already been capped four times by Italy’s senior side, in which he has scored one goal and registered one assist. Both of those contributions came in matches against Germany.
Why did Leeds want him?
Gnonto is a player who can play across the forward line. His main strengths include his pace and dribbling ability.
Gnonto is also versatile, with the youngster having played everywhere across the front four, though predominantly as a number nine and 10. Whether he has the physical attributes to lead the line in the Premier League at this stage remains to be seen.
What has been said about him?
Following a 1-1 draw with Germany in June, Italy boss Roberto Mancini was full of praise for Gnonto after grabbing an assist. He said: “He’s so quick and can do everything. He’s a forward with a quality that we didn’t have before and he will improve a lot.”
Ahead of the match against Hungary, Mancini discussed the potential of Gnonto. He said: "For his age he knows how to play football like few others and he is very quick. If he develops without too much pressure, he can show us what quality he has."
