Celebrations could be heard for over a mile as Congo and England played out a classic in the World in One City (WIOC) tournament.
The game took place last night (June 13) at Jericho Lane, Aigburth, in Group B of the tournament. A community competition, which includes teams representing many different communities who have made Merseyside their home, WIOC is back for its third year in Liverpool.
WIOC's aim is to inspire communities from across the Liverpool City Region to come together through sport, to represent countries of their ethnicity and origin, while celebrating difference and identity. It's organised by a team of dedicated volunteers who want to promote culture, heritage and unity to support diverse communities.

Last night saw Congo and England serve up a classic in their second group match. The host nation raced to a 3-0 lead before a great comeback from the African nation saw them win the game 4-3 in dramatic fashion.
A wondergoal from Christopher Fankam drew Congo level and inspired great scenes of rapturous celebration. Wearing number 7, Fankam collected the ball on the left, cut inside, beat three men with ease and sent a rocket of a shot into the top right corner.
Players and fans stormed the pitch as Fankam wheeled away in celebration.
However, the best was yet to come for Congo.
With almost the last kick of the match, Daniel Bulayima tapped in from a cross to complete the turnaround and win the game 4-3. Cue another pitch invasion as fans and players celebrated what looked like an unlikely win.
The celebrations could be heard across Aigburth, with people around a mile away reporting hearing the cheers.
Elsewhere in Group B, Guinea Bissau beat Sudan 2-1 in the earlier match. The tournament continues tonight as the Somali Team play Zimbabwe at 7pm, before the West Indies play Poland at 8.30pm.
