The wife of a hillwalker who went missing a year ago has vowed to continue the search for her husband in the hope he will one day return home to meet his baby son.
Finn Creaney, 33, was last seen at around 2.15pm on Friday March 25 2022 as he went hiking in Sutherland in the Highlands. The Easter Ross man has never been traced.
Saturday marks the first anniversary of Finn's disappearance, and his wife Lucy, who was pregnant at the time she last saw him, told the Record she is desperate for baby son Bran, aged 10 months, to see his daddy for the first time.
Lucy, 28, who is also mum to the couple's five-year-old daughter Luna, said: “It is really horrible that Bran has not met his daddy yet. Every small milestone hurts.
"Finn has not been here to see his first smile. I have been taking photographs all along the way so he doesn’t miss anything, but I just want him to come home now and meet his son.
"Luna speaks about her daddy and misses him every single day. I have been honest with her so she knows he is missing and told her that he has not come home yet from one of his adventures.
"She cries for him, but she is a strong child and is coping well. The children need their dad. Finn is a great dad and we all just want him home."
Finn was a keen survivalist and logged his experiences on his own YouTube channel WildCat Bushcraft. Lucy is 'certain' that Finn has not done anything to harm himself and says the couple were the happiest they had ever been after starting their young family together.
She continued: "We were the happiest we had ever been and Finn was of sound mind. I have known him for half my life and we had thought long and hard about starting a family together. We had the rest of our lives ahead of us.
"I can say with absolute certainty that I don't think he did anything deliberate to hurt himself. There is no evidence to suggest that anything untoward has happened.
"Sometimes my mind wanders and I think maybe something bad happened, but you can’t just disappear without a trace."
Lucy remains determined to keep up the search for Finn and said getting him home to his children is her only focus.
His family are continuing their efforts to find him and have recently printed out thousands of leaflets while combing through over 2000 images taken by a drone from the area where he vanished.
Lucy added: "I can either be positive or crumble and I am choosing to drive forward and get Finn home to his family. My children are my fuel and give me the strength to keep this all going."
The story of Finn's disappearance is set to feature on a new Channel 5 series, Vanished: The Hunt for Britain's Missing, presented by Dan Walker.
Anyone who may have seen Finn or have any information at all is urged to contact the Search for Finn Creaney Facebook page, or to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0912 of March 28, 2022.
