Most of Queensland is expected to be covered in a blanket of frost tomorrow, stretching from the southern interior to the far north.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecasts chilly mornings to last into the weekend, with the Darling Downs region likely to drop to near-zero degrees tomorrow.

BOM has issued a warning to sheep graziers in the Darling Downs about the risk of livestock losses due to cold weather exposure today.

Meteorologist Helen Reid said temperatures were also likely to reach sub-zero degrees in south-western parts of the state around Roma.

Senior forecaster Steve Hadley said strong south-westerly winds would also make for a chilly Origin decider tonight, with Brisbane city temperatures expected to drop to 8 degrees.

"On the way to the stadium and when you're just sitting still in the stadium, it's going to feel really cold with that dry air and a bit of breeze as well," he said.

Ms Reid said most of the cold temperatures over the next few days would occur in the mornings and overnight periods.

"We are expecting it to be a predominantly sunny weekend, there will be a little bit of cloud here and there, creeping in, and maybe the chance of showers along coastal parts," she said.

"We're not expecting the daytime temperatures to be as cold as what we've seen earlier in the month … but we're still looking at it being really cold mornings.

"We do also need to remember that sometimes it'll feel colder than it actually is given that the dryness of the air can make it feel that much colder."
