Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou sprung a surprise on many watching his nation's World Cup clash against Belgium on Sunday afternoon.
Bounou, 31, was selected by Walid Regragui to start in goal for the African nation after keeping a clean sheet against Croatia in their opening earlier in the week. The Sevilla shot-stopper was on course to earn his 48th cap for his country in Doha, but he did not feature.
After taking part in the warm-up, as usual, Bounou then lined up with the rest of Morocco's starting line-up as they blasted their National Anthem out inside the Al Thumana Stadium. However, as referee Cesar Ramos blew his whistle to kickstart the game, the experienced goalkeeper was nowhere to be seen.

So what happened to him?
Shortly after signing the National Anthem, Bounou was pictured speaking to Regragui on the touchline before Al-Wehda goalkeeper Munir El Kajoui was prepped and introduced. The 33-year-old doesn't lack experience and had made three World Cup appearances in 2018 but hadn't featured for Morocco since March.
At half-time, BBC Sport presenter Mark Chapman explained the strange incident. "Let's just clear up what went on pre-match with the change of Moroccan goalkeeper. (Yassine) Bono was there as the team sang the national anthem. He then complained to the coach that he had something wrong with his eyes by the looks of it, but look how calm the coach is.
"Goes over with a smile to the replacement goalkeeper, El Kajoui. He then comes on and joins his teammates for the photo, then plays that first 45 minutes and they weren't fazed by it. He was very calm."
