Why the UK is preparing its aircraft carrier to send to Middle East

The UK is increasing the readiness of its aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, for potential deployment to the Middle East, though no decision has been made to send it.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed the UK has bolstered its military presence in the region since January, deploying assets including Typhoons, F-35 jets, and additional personnel.
The US has commenced using British bases for "specific defensive operations" against Iranian missile threats, with more American bombers arriving at RAF Fairford.
Sir Keir Starmer has granted permission for these "defensive" US actions to be launched from UK bases.
British citizens are being repatriated from the Middle East via charter flights, amidst political criticism regarding the UK's stance on the conflict.
