When a police SUV appears in your rearview mirror in the US, there's a good chance it's a Ford Explorer. More precisely, it's usually a Ford Police Interceptor Utility, the law-enforcement version of the Explorer platform.

Ford says the Police Interceptor Utility is America's best-selling police vehicle, and its current lineup is built specifically around the demands of patrol and pursuit work.
