The Carolina Panthers will soon be on the clock for the 2023 NFL Draft.
So how did they get here to select their quarterback of the future, who by all accounts should be Alabama quarterback Bryce Young?
Well, in March, the Panthers traded up from the No. 9 pick all the way to the top with the Chicago Bears in a blockbuster trade.
The Bears received a haul for the top pick that included the No. 9 pick, wide receiver D.J. Moore, a 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick.
The Panthers, of course, got the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft and a chance at the quarterback of their choosing.
Everything is pointing at Young to be the pick to lead Carolina, who last picked a quarterback overall in the 2011 NFL Draft with Cam Newton.
As for Chicago, they’ll get plenty of draft ammo for the next couple of years as they build their roster around 2021 first-round quarterback Justin Fields.
