
It’s the final couple of weeks of Australian spring and I’m dressed in jeans and a jumper, knocking back oysters next to a wood burner after a day dipping in hot mountainside pools and pedalling between wineries.
There’s something almost British about the lush green landscape of the Adelaide Hills and its sunshine-one-minute, rain-the-next weather. Then again, we spent the afternoon eating pretzels in the historic German town of Hahndorf and spent breakfast this morning surrounded by a family of six-foot kangaroos, which felt perhaps a little less UK-like.
