Why Steve Cooper was in referee's office at half-time in Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle clash

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper and Newcastle United assistant Jason Tindall were both summoned to speak to Paul Tierney at half-time because of "disagreements" on the touchline.

Sky Sports commentator Seb Hutchinson claimed the pair were warned that they would be sent to the stands if they did not calm down.

He said during the game: "It's interesting actually, at half-time, both Steve Cooper and the Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall were called into the office of Paul Tierney, because of disagreements on the touchline in the first half, from both camps - the referee telling them to just calm down, in his office, otherwise they would both be sent to the stands. Not Eddie Howe, mind."

Newcastle eventually won the game 2-1 as they came from behind to seal an important win in their quest for a top-four finish. Forest had taken the lead through Emmanuel Dennis' brilliant chip but Alexander Isak struck just before half-time.

Elliot Anderson then had a goal ruled out after Tierney after he was asked to look at the incident again by VAR officials and then ruled Sean Longstaff was in an offside position in the build-up.

But Isak sealed the win at the death when Isak struck from the penalty spot after Moussa Niakhate was adjudged to have handled inside the box.
