Liverpool paid tribute to Real Madrid legend and honorary president Amancio Amaro before their Champions League clash.
The Reds are taking on the La Liga giants in the first left of their last-16 tie at Anfield. Before kick-off, club legend Sir Kenny Dalglish and chief executive Billy Hogan placed a wreath in front of the travelling fans from Spain.
Amaro, who is a former player and honorary president of Real Madrid, died at the age of 83 on Tuesday. Before the Spanish club travelled to Merseyside, club president Florentino Perez was joined by former players, fans and celebrities at a memorial chapel in Madrid to pay their respects to Amaro.

During his playing days at Madrid, Amaro made 418 appearances for the club and scored 142 goals. He was part of the team that won the 1966 European Cup, and also helped win nine La Liga titles.
Amaro would later spend a year as a manager of Real Madrid from 1984-85. He would later become an honorary president of the Spanish club in October last year, to recognise his stature at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Before the kick-off, Liverpool and Real Madrid players also observed a period of silence as a mark of respect for the victims of the of the earthquake which has affected the people of Turkey and Syria.
