The signing of Christian Eriksen is looking like the coup of the summer already, with the classy midfielder bringing a degree of technical proficiency United haven't enjoyed in the middle of the park for years. It's a wonder there wasn't stiffer competition for his signature, but it has certainly worked out well for Erik ten Hag.
Getting such a quality player for free was a real boost to United's transfer window as, with their budget being stretched so thin to improve other positions, they may have struggled if they had to stump up the cash for a player as good as Eriksen. As things stand, a lot of quality players could be out of contract next summer so United would do well to keep their eyes peeled for another bargain.

Roy Keane’s introduction in Manchester United’s ‘Legends of the North’ charity clash with Liverpool was greeted with loud boos from home supporters.
The United icon was announced as a visiting squad member shortly before the game, which ended 2-1 to the hosts following their 3-1 win at Old Trafford in May. He replaced Darron Gibson on 75 minutes to a chorus of jeers.
The away side had taken the lead when Dimitar Berbatov found the top corner on seven minutes. But second-half strikes from Mark Gonzalez and Florent Sinama Pongolle made it back-to-back defeats against Liverpool for the United Legends.
