Why Noel Gallagher wasn't at Champions League final to see beloved Man City win treble

Noel Gallagher was unable to be in Istanbul to see his beloved Manchester City win their first ever Champions League trophy.

The former Oasis singer is a lifelong City fan and regularly attends games both home and away, but was forced to miss the final as Pep Guardiola's side defeated Inter Milan.

A goal from midfielder Rodri in the second-half was enough to seal the win for City in a close-fought game, as they completed their treble after winning the Premier League and FA Cup this season.

But Oasis icon Gallager was not able to be in attendance as he is currently on tour with the High Flying Birds over in the United States.

The singer was able to find a watch party in San Diego though, as he watched on with a number of fans was able to celebrate the result going their way on the west coast of America.

Gallagher was shown in the San Diego bar with fans cheering around him on CBS coverage of the final as he took his place at the pub around two hours before kick-off.

Both Noel and brother Liam remain huge fans of the club, but Noel is seen at games more regularly than Liam.

Earlier this week, Noel had stated that he'd wear Erling Haaland's famous underwear on-stage if they were able to win the game - an image of Noel with Haaland after a game earlier this season.

He said: "I won't be in Istanbul – I always make sure the dates around the Champions League are free and usually that's always around the end of May.

"What wasn't factored in was the World Cup and the knock-on effect. I'm contractually obliged to play the gig no matter what and I'm OK with that – I will watch the game in a San Diego bar. If City win and Haaland scores a hat-trick I'll be going on in my underpants."

Manchester City are the first English team to win the treble since 1999 when Manchester United achieved the remarkable feat.
