iPhone users have been reporting their batteries draining much quicker than usual after installing the latest iOS software update. Some who have added iOS 16.5 to their devices are now suffering from faster battery drain, reports The Mirror.
One iPhone owner called Mark, tracking to social media, said: "Any idea why iOS 16.5 is absolutely decimating the battery on my iPhone 12 Pro? It seems much much worse than it did on 16.4.1 - I’d rarely get to 50% at the end of the day.”
Experts say the problem should resolve itself after a few days. When Apple sends out major iOS updates, iPhones sometimes need to re-index data. This happens in the background and can subsequently lead to battery life dropping.
Apple insists these processes are carried out on the phone because it does not want the privacy implications associated with sending the data to the cloud.
The whole process can take a couple of days and once completed the iPhone battery should return to normal strength.
