Youri Tielemans has apologised to Aston Villa supporters after claiming Manchester United were a level above his former club.
The Belgian midfielder completed a £35m move from Villa to Manchester United earlier this summer.
Tielemans faced criticism from fans after stating during a pre-season tour that United were among the clubs above Villa.
In a statement on Instagram, he admitted his mistake and insisted he never intended to offend the club or its fans.
The 29-year-old helped Villa win the Europa League earlier this year before making the move to Old Trafford.
