Junior Firpo sat out of Leeds United's pre-season opener against Manchester United with speculation beginning to mount regarding his future at Elland Road. The Dominican international expressed his desire for a new challenge following the Whites' relegation to the Championship, but remains a Leeds player as things stand.
The former Barcelona defender returned to training with a niggle and was left out of the clash with the Red Devils in Oslo this afternoon following a late fitness test. Firpo has travelled with the squad but did not feature against the Premier League side.
Firpo is among a number of Leeds United players linked with a move away from the club following their relegation. Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo are poised for exits while a number of players are still yet to return after being given prolonged time off due to their international commitments.
Helder Costa and Max Wober are also absent for Daniel Farke's side against Manchester United but have trained in the build-up. The pair only returned to pre-season training on Monday.
