Coronation Street won't be on tonight - and will instead air Sunday in an ITV schedule shake up.
The ITV soap is airing some huge storylines at the moment as Toyah Battersby finds out her fate in court and preparations begin for Kelly Neelan's dramatic exit storyline ahead of a big rooftop showdown on the show next week. However, fans of the soap will have to wait a little longer to find out what will happen as Corrie has been pushed back to Sunday night.
The show usually airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm but following the passing of Her Majesty the Queen, ITV schedules were interrupted for rolling news coverage and special documentaries to celebrate the monarch's long reign.
As a result, Coronation Street has been pushed from schedules this evening to make way for two episodes of Emmerdale. In Corrie's usual slot on Friday evening (September 16), Emmerdale will now air two back to back episodes from 8pm. The news will air before in an extended special ending at 8pm to mark King Charles III's first visit to Cardiff as the monarch of the country.
With Coronation Street not being aired this evening, it will now be aired on Sunday instead.
The episode of Corrie will be shown at 7pm on Sunday evening, ending at 7.55pm in time for the two minute silence in memory of Queen Elizabeth to be held across the UK at 8pm on Sunday September 18.
Coronation Street's Sunday episode was originally meant to be shown this evening, and will see an unhappy Gary as Sharon visits Kelly to celebrate her engagement. He begs her not to ruin Kelly's life by revealing he killed her dad.
In court, the verdict is given out in Toyah's case, whilst Spider reveals he wants to stick around and meet up with DS Swain to discuss her job after it was revealed he was an undercover cop.
Not much has been revealed about the Kelly and Gary storyline, but actor Mikey North teased to The Mirror that it was "full circle".
"I think it was inevitable that this was the way it would end. I'm just really happy that he sort of comes full circle and we were ending up where we began," he said, "It was always gonna happen, it was just a case of when."
