The Daily Show was preparing for a big week at the Republican National Convention, but the events surrounding the July 13 attempted assassination of former President Trump have caused the show to shift its approach. That starts with no new episode of The Daily Show airing on Monday, July 15, at 11 pm ET/PT on Comedy Central.
Originally, The Daily Show was planning to have on-the-ground coverage of the convention with their correspondents, but following the event at Trump's rally over the weekend, Comedy Central released a statement that there would be no July 15 episode of the nightly news satire. However, the show is set to return Tuesday through Thursday, but at their New York studio rather than at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Here is the official statement from The Daily Show via X (formerly Twitter):

It has also been announced that Jon Stewart, who returned to host one show a week for The Daily Show at least up to the 2024 Presidential Election, will host the Tuesday episode. Original plans had Stewart slated to host the Thursday episode, the final night of the convention.
The Republican National Convention is taking place from Monday, July 15, to Thursday, July 18, in Milwaukee. It is here that Donald Trump will officially become the Republican nominee for president and his running mate for vice president is to be announced.
Many networks and shows are planning special coverage for the convention. Unsurprisingly, cable news networks like CNN and Fox News are going to be on site for the convection with multiple hours of the day dedicated to coverage. Elsewhere, ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS are also going to have blocks of live coverage. ABC and CBS broadcasts will begin at 10 pm ET/PT, with their normal summer programming airing uninterrupted. NBC's coverage starts at 9:30 pm ET/PT, with the only show seemingly impacted by the network’s coverage being the game show The Wall.
Also, all indications remain that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is going to air live episodes in its usual 11:35 pm ET/PT time slot all week so the late-night host can comment on the proceedings from the convention.
But if you’re interested in watching The Daily Show's coverage when it returns on Tuesday, July 16, at 11 pm ET/PT, then you need a traditional pay-TV provider or a live TV streaming service with access to Comedy Central (Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV). You can also watch it on-demand if you subscribe to Paramount Plus.
