Many people may be questioning why the Queen's procession will take place at exactly 2.22pm. But there is a logical reason for it, a royal editor explained. Appearing on the ITV show Lorraine, Russel Myers explained the details of the late monarch's ceremonial procession.
It has been planned that the Queen's coffin will travel from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall later today to remain lie-in-state for four days so well-wishers can pay their respects. As part of the procession, King Charles III will follow the coffin on foot, accompanied by his two sons Prince William and Harry.

After Lorraine asked: "Do we know why it's 2.22pm?" Russel explained: "Well, it’s very simply because it takes 38 minutes to walk in this procession down the mall, horse guard parade on the way to parliament square to Westminster Hall.”
He added: "To meticulous, to minute detail has been looked after.” Discussing more details surrounding the ceremony, Russell said: "No music, hushed silence which incidentally is something that I’ve been so impressed with.
“There’s been such respect everywhere, I think.” Once the Queen's coffin arrives at Wesminster Hall, a short service will be carried out by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Dean of Westminster, with other members of the royal family in attendance.
Following this event, the Queen's lying-in-state will officially begin and members of the public will be able to visit the coffin and pay their respects at Westminster Hall. This will go on until the day of the Queen's funeral on Monday, September 19.
A statement from Buckingham Palace reads: "On the morning of Monday 19th September, the Lying-in-State will end and the Coffin will be taken in Procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey, where the State Funeral Service will take place.
“Following the State Funeral, the Coffin will travel in Procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch.
“From Wellington Arch, the Coffin will travel to Windsor and once there, the State Hearse will travel in Procession to St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle via the Long Walk. A Committal Service will then take place in St George's Chapel.”
