Why is Russia a blind spot for some on the left?

FOR decades, many on the left have been among the most vocal critics of imperialism, calling out wrongs in Indonesia, Iraq, Vietnam, Afghanistan and across the African continent.

But a section of the left is struggling to apply the same scrutiny to Russia's actions, exposing what feels like a political blind spot that's become more visible since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
