Indian stock markets traded sharply higher on Monday, with the Sensex and Nifty rallying over 1% each as rising hopes of a US-Iran peace deal, falling oil prices, and other factors boosted market sentiment.
The Sensex gained around 1,074 points to close at 76,489, while the Nifty 50 rose 312 points to end the session at 24,032. Notably, these marked the highest closing levels for the benchmark indices since May 8. Today’s sharp gains added more than Rs 6 lakh crore to the total market capitalisation of all companies listed on the BSE, taking it to around Rs 469 lakh crore.
