Indian stock market traded deep in the red on Monday, with benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty falling more than 1% each as rising uncertainties surrounding the Iran-US conflict, persistent FII selling and other headwinds dampened investor sentiment. The selloff wiped out over Rs 6 lakh crore from the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies, bringing it down to around Rs 457 lakh crore.
Sensex crashed more than 1,150 points to 73,492, while the Nifty 50 fell around 332 points to 23,151. This came as India VIX, which measures volatility in markets, jumped over 9% to 16.83 during trading hours.
