As well as bemoaning their performance against Hungary at the weekend, many England fans were left scratching their heads at the fact they were watching the match on Channel 4.
After coming within a whisker of winning Euro 2020 last summer, with the Three Lions losing to Italy in a heart-breaking penalty shoot out defeat, Gareth Southgate’s men are now gearing up for the World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year, rather than the traditional summer tournament.
But before then , England are competing in the Nations League, with their opening game not going to plan at all as they lost away to Hungary.

They will be aiming to bounce back in another away tie against Germany, the second of six matches. Fans have fond memories of the last time they met at Wembley in Euro 2020, when goals from Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling sealed a 2-0 win.
Why are England games on Channel 4?
All of England’s Nations League matches will be on Channel 4, after the broadcaster secured the rights to all of England’s competitive matches until 2024.
In total Channel 4 will broadcast 20 live England matches between 2022 to 2024, including the Nations League ties and Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Commenting on the news which was confirmed in April, Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon said: “As a life-long committed football fan I am personally so delighted that we have these matches on the channel which further reinforce our reputation as a top quality sport broadcaster having been named Sports Network of the Year at this year’s British Sports Journalism Awards.”
