Chelsea manager Graham Potter has blamed his side's attack for letting the win get away from them against Everton on Saturday evening. Despite the Blues leading on two separate occasions, they failed to hang on for what would have been their fourth win on the bounce.
Having seen Joao Felix's opener cancelled out by an Abdoulaye Doucoure header, the hosts quickly restored their advantage courtesy of Kai Havertz from the penalty spot. As the two teams entered the final moments of the game, it looked as though the points would be staying in west London, before Ellis Simms dramatically levelled things up with his first-ever goal in the competition.
Rather than placing the sole blame with his defence for allowing Simms to equalise late on for the Toffees, Potter also identified his attack as a key culprit for letting Sean Dyche's relegation battlers back into the game. "I thought the performance overall was positive," Potter told Sky Sports after the game.
