West Ham United manager David Moyes has explained why striker Gianluca Scamacca, goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and midfielder Manuel Lanzini all missed Saturday’s FA Cup win over Brentford.
The trio were all absent from the Hammers’ squad, alongside known injured trio Maxwel Cornet (calf), Kurt Zouma and Vladimir Coufal (both knee), with all three suffering recent injuries.
Speaking on their respective absences, Moyes said that he does not expect any of the trio to have serious concerns and has explained why they were all absent.

“Scamacca just felt his knee since after the [Leeds] game,” Moyes told football.london. “Areola was playing and the last kick of training yesterday he just felt something at the top of his hip and Lanzini felt [he had] a tight groin so that was difficult.
”I don’t think any of them are too bad. Gianluca we don’t think is too bad, we are hoping it’s not too bad, he was going for a scan. Phonse [Areola] - I didn’t even see it happening, I thought we were finished but he got it in his last kick. Manu, we think should be okay.”
West Ham are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
