Sometimes the hardest relationship to leave is not the one you know is bad. It is the one you keep hoping will become good. You notice the arguments, the distance, the broken promises and the moments that leave you emotionally exhausted. Yet you stay. You explain their behaviour, remember their good moments and tell yourself that things might improve. From the outside, people may ask, "Why don't you just leave?"
But leaving is rarely that simple. Good people can stay too long because they care deeply, believe in second chances and often see the potential in someone rather than the reality in front of them. The most surprising part is that their kindness can sometimes become the very reason they struggle to walk away.
