The Boston Celtics traded a second round pick for Philadelphia 76ers wing Jaden Springer in their second and final trade before the NBA’s 2024 trade deadline. Springer is in the third season of his rookie deal with the Sixers and has struggled offensively while thriving on defense.
Boston also traded deep reserve wing Dalano Banton to the Portland Trail Blazers for a top-55 protected second round draft pick ahead of the deadline to keep a roster spot open for a potential buyout signing. Why did the Celtics trade for Springer if the 76ers thought he wasn’t enough for them in the coming postseason?
