Crystal Palace and Brentford will be among the sides eagerly awaiting the Carabao Cup draw, alongside 11 other Premier League clubs who will be entering the competition at the second-round stage. Watford and Burnley will also take their places in the draw having also received first-round byes.
However, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham will have to wait until the second-round ties take place on the week beginning August 22 to find out their opening Carabao Cup opponents. That is because they are among the seven top-flight clubs who are involved in European action in 2022/23 and therefore exempt from the competition until the third round.
The quartet, along with holders Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, will enter the competition at the last-32 stage.

For those still interested in who else might make it through to the third round, the Carabao Cup second-round draw takes place tonight on Sky Sports Main Event and Football (alongside Sky Sports News).
That will be following the conclusion of the first-round tie between Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland. That game kicks off at 7.45pm, with the draw expected to take place around 10pm.
Chelsea lost out in last season’s final after an agonising penalty shootout defeat to Liverpool.
