Why are Arsenal wearing all-white kit against Oxford in FA Cup?

Arsenal will wear an all-white kit tonight as they travel to face Oxford in the FA Cup.

The Gunners are once again ditching their usual red strip to support the club’s campaign against knife crime, as they also did a year ago when facing Nottingham Forest in the competition.

The No More Red campaign will be continued tonight by the men’s side, before Arsenal Women take part through their pre-match training kit jackets against Chelsea at the Emirates on January 15.

As was the case 12 months ago the all-white kit will not be available to purchase, and this time will be given to some of those who have volunteered with the club’s charity partners, including Arsenal in the Community and The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation.

Along with the volunteer scheme, the latest chapter of No More Red will invest in safe spaces to play football and recognise individuals who are having a positive influence on their communities.

Freddie Hudson, Head of Arsenal in the Community, said: “Last year we were proud to launch No More Red with adidas. It provided a unique opportunity to highlight almost four decades of our local community work that has helped to keep thousands of young people safe.

“Young people face multiple challenges as they grow up in today’s world and we don’t have all the answers, but we are confident our work makes a significant contribution to the lives of our participants.

“Our hard work must continue and we’re proud to be building on the achievements of the first year of No More Red by adding more social action projects and a volunteer programme that broadens the reach of this powerful initiative.”
