Why another loan exit for Leeds United's Cody Drameh is on the cards next season with Cardiff City front of the queue

It is no secret that Cardiff City fans have fallen in love with loan man Cody Drameh. The cardinal sin. They are already dreaming about wanting him back in the blue shirt next season.

Steve Morison has said he will be front and centre if Leeds decide another loan exit is the way forward for him next term. And that might well be a possibility.

We spoke to LeedsLive's Beren Cross , our man with the inside track at Elland Road, and he believes that, no matter what division Leeds find themselves in next year, another loan away would not be a massive shock. That, of course, is music to the ears for Cardiff fans. Here is everything Beren had to say...

1. What have you made of Cody's start to life at Cardiff?

Beren Cross : I have not followed Cody's progress in Wales too closely with everything being so full-on with Leeds United's schedule, but from what I have read he seems to be excelling down there and really impressing fans, team-mates and coaching staff alike.

2. Have Leeds been keeping close tabs on him? Are they happy with the Cardiff link-up?

BC : The loans manager at Leeds, Andrew Taylor, has recently taken control of the under-23 side at Thorp Arch as a part of a coaching reshuffle in the aftermath of Marcelo Bielsa's departure, but the club will be taking a keen interest in how Cody is getting on. They will be delighted to see the kind of game-time he is getting at a very competitive level.

3. Steve Morison has already said he'd love to have him back next season - what are the chances of that happening do you think?

BC : Much depends on which division Leeds will be playing in. If they are relegated, naturally, Cody is likely to have a stronger claim to more first-team football with Leeds. If they remain in the Premier League, he's unlikely to become a first-team regular next season. Unfortunately for Cody, the best right-backs at the club, Luke Ayling, Stuart Dallas and Jamie Shackleton, are all players you would expect to stay with the club even in the event of relegation. So, Cody would not automatically shuffle up the ranks within Leeds in that position.

4. What should his next step be next season, especially with the new manager now in charge at Leeds?

BC : I would expect Cody to return to Leeds for pre-season where he will be assessed by Jesse Marsch and his backroom staff, who will also be watching his progress with Cardiff closely to see how he fits into their plans. The loan to Cardiff showed how keen Cody was to get away and play regularly if he's not going to do it with Leeds. I would not be surprised to see another Championship loan next term, especially if Leeds stay up.
