Whoopi Goldberg slams The View audience and begs them to let co-hosts 'get through it'

Whoopi Goldberg has been forced to speak out during a live broadcast of The View as she urged audience members to be quiet when guests came on the show.

The 67-year-old panellist slammed fans for being too rowdy during the broadcast and begged them to allow the hosts to "get through" their interviews.

The View stars were joined by American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie during Tuesday's episode.

As the special guests walked out, the audience went wild and jumped to their feet while cheering for them.

Luke, 46, was loving the attention and played up to the crowd as he twirled one audience member before sitting down to be interviewed.

The crowd continued to cheer and Whoopi tried to talk over them as she said: "It's really wonderful to have you all here at the table with us.

"You're back with the 21st season, only six for y'all, of American Idol. Now, when you see all the things that..."

Instead of finishing her sentence, Whoopi turned to face the crowd and gave a stern warning to her audience.

"OK, ya'll, you have to let us ask the question.

"We'll get back to you, but you've got to let us get through it because you know we take forever to ask these questions," she said.

The actress then said: "Anyway," before turning back to continue interviewing her guests.

Whoopi was recently forced to apologise to The View fans after using an ethnic slur during a live broadcast of the show.

During her apology, she admitted she should have "thought about it", after facing an intense backlash from fans.

Whoopi hit out at Trump's supporters during a segment of the show earlier this month and used an offensive slang term for the word "cheated".

She said: "The people who still believe that he got gy**ed somehow in the election, will still believe that he cared enough about his wife to pay that money from his personal thing."

The term is considered derogatory toward people of Romani heritage.

Following the show, Whoopi took to Twitter to share an apology video on The View's official account.

"You know, when you're a certain age, you use words that you know from when you're a kid or you remember saying, and that's what I did today, and I shouldn't have," she said.

Whoopi added: "I should have thought about it a little longer before I said it, but I didn't, and I should have said 'cheated,' and I used another word, and I'm really, really sorry."
