Whoopi Goldberg has arrived in Edinburgh ahead of filming for her new Amazon Prime show.
The Sister Act star turned up to the Cafe Royal on West Register Street over the weekend as surprised diners looked on.
And the Ghost star was happy to pose up for a picture with staff after deciding to get a bite there on Sunday.
The 66-year-old was all smiles as she met with staff and the restaurant later revealed: "The lovely Whoopi Goldberg paid us a visit today!"
Whoopi is all set to play Bird Woman in new Amazon Prime show Anansi Boys as previously revealed by The Daily Record.
Amazon Studios confirmed this week that she will star in the production, which has already filmed at George Street's Le Monde Hotel and counts First Stage Studios in Leith docks as another location.
The series adaptation of Anansi Boys , based on Neil Gaiman’s internationally beloved novel, sees Malachi Kirby in the leading roles of brothers Fat Charlie and Spider.
Whoopi had hinted she was interested in the tale after telling the author her 'favourite book was the audio book of Anansi Boys, read by Lenny Henry.'
He added: "And when I told her that there was a part in the book I'd originally written with her in mind, she was overjoyed. So when it became a reality, she was the first person I asked, and the first to agree."
The story follows a trickster who is one of the most important characters of West African, African American and Caribbean folklore.
Grammy and Oscar winning Whoopi has always been a huge fan of the original 2005 Neil Gaiman novel .
Whoopi appeared at the Edinburgh TV festival last year where she was selected as the International Icon.
Seeing her picture online, one person said: "Oh wow! Fantastic!"
Other diners at the oyster restaurant managed to get a picture with one writing: "Fabulous day in our favourite wee bar!"
