There were wholesome scenes in Navan on Wednesday night when Sean Boylan was mobbed by Meath GAA fans as the county hosted a meet and greet ahead of their Tailteann Cup final.
Boylan returned to Meath GAA earlier this year as part of Colm O'Rourke's backroom staff and was the most popular figure on the night as he was surrounded by adoring fans.
Meath will take on Down in Croke Park on the 15 July in their final and hope to capture their first trophy since the 2010 Leinster final.
And fans flocked to Pairc Tailteann to meet the players and management ahead of the big final and despite not being manager since stepping down back in 2005, Boylan was the most popular figure on the night.
The Dunboyne native won his first trophy with the Royals back in 1984 when Meath captured the Centenary Cup and the win acted as a springboard for major success over the next 15 years.
Boylan would lead Meath to eight Leinster Football titles and four All-Ireland title crowns as well as three National League titles.
It hasn't been plain sailing for Meath in 2023 under new boss O'Rourke as the side were relegated to the Tailteann Cup following a poor league showing and suffered a shock loss to Offaly in the Leinster Football Championship.
