Who will win Norway vs Scotland? Our writers make their predictions for the crucial Euro 2024 qualifier

It's a massive chance for Scotland to build on their lead at the top of Group A against Norway in their lates Euro qualifiers.

There is just the small matter of containing Man City record breaker Erling Haaland off the back of firing the European champions to a Treble winning campaign. And if that's not enough for boss Steve Clarke to consider he has a second superstar to worry about the Arsenal's Martin Odegaard set to offer plenty going forward in a bid to derail our boys early momentum in their pursuit of Euro 2024.

However, after back to back-to-back wins over Cyprus and Spain confidence couldn't be higher among the Tartan Army as they head to Oslo - and a win over Norway would give Clarke's side a five-point gap over Haaland and co. And after pulling off a win over Spain at Hampden fans are hoping for a big night in Scandanavia to take a step towards another major tournament.

But how will it go? The Record Sport team have their say before the showdown on Saturday.

This feels all wrong. There should be no such thing as confidence heading into a Scotland game of such enormous importance. And yet, there it is. This team of ours has earned the nation’s trust and has the talent to tangle with the very best. Steve Clarke and his players also know they kill Norway stone dead by avoiding defeat. I’ll sign for a 1-1 draw right now. But the reality might be even better.

The momentum is all with Scotland. If they could win then could effectively put the Norwegians out of sight.

I just think the home side will be on a high with Haaland’s homecoming. The heat will also play a factor but I think Scotland can be more than a match and will take a point.

I know, I know ... but the fact is that this Scotland team is equipped to go to places like Oslo and get a result. Clarke can find a way to stop the supply to Haaland and with guys like McGinn, McTominay and Christie running off Dykes, there are goals to be had.

Norway 1 Scotland 2

Scotland have really tightened up defensively in recent times and there’s always a goal in them these days, too. Clarke’s team can bag a point.

Gordon Parks

The campaign’s about to hit a bump on the road against a side which just has better players in the positions that matter. Prophet of doom but a lack of top quality in the striking positions are a huge issue.

Norway 2 Scotland 0

Graeme Young

The threat of Haaland has been discussed, however, Arsenal’s pass master Martin Odegaard’s knack of shredding defences apart could be the greatest threat, But this Scotland side is made from girders and have a big game knack of giving the opposition fits. It won’t be easy and might often not be pretty but Steve Clarke’s side will earn a result to keep them on track for Germany.
